JEREMY LIN

A UNIQUE ROAD TO SUCCESS

After leading his high school team to a California state championship, and being named First-Team All-State and the Northern California Division II Player of the Year, Jeremy Lin did not receive any athletic scholarships.

After finishing his collegiate career at Harvard as the first player in the history of the Ivy League to record at least 1,450 points, 450 rebounds, 400 assists, and 200 steals, Jeremy Lin went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft. Two years later, amidst the phenomenon that was “Linsanity,” Jeremy appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The headline read “Against All Odds.”

...LIKE TAG HEUER’S

Jeremy Lin is the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA...

Undrafted out of Harvard, Jeremy’s play for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA’s Las Vegas Summer League earned him a partially-guaranteed contract as a rookie free agent with the Golden State Warriors, his favorite team growing up. Jeremy saw limited playing time during his rookie season, and was waived by the Warriors on the first day of training camp for the 2011 NBA season. He was quickly claimed off of waivers by the Houston Rockets. But Jeremy only played seven minutes during the pre-season and was waived by the Rockets on Christmas Day. The Knicks claimed Jeremy off waivers to play back-up point guard. Two months, and an amazing string of events later, Jeremy became the first ever NBA player to record at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first five starts. “Linsanity” had taken the league, the nation, and the world by storm.  Jeremy’s success was not by chance, but it was in many ways “against all odds.” Jeremy has a tremendous work ethic, and a perfectionist’s approach to improving his game.  After the 2012 season, Jeremy became a restricted free agent. The Houston Rockets made him an offer the Knicks did not match, and Jeremy went to play in Houston for two seasons. In the summer of 2014, Jeremy was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and returned to his home state for the 2014-15 season. Jeremy works tirelessly day in and day out, and serves as a leader both on and off the court.  Why is his story so inspiring?  Because, like TAG Heuer, he pays no attention to naysayers. He refuses limits. He never quits. He never cracks under pressure.
